Rushi Kashyap ( Father of Indian Soil )
IT IS BELIEVED THAT KESARWANIES ARE THE DESCENDANTS OF RISHI KASHYAP FROM WHOM THEY GOT THEIR GOTRA "KASHYAP". ALSO, KESARWANIES HAVE THEIR ORIGIN FROM KASHMIR, WHICH WAS FOUNDED BY KASHYAP RISHI.
THERE ARE MANY LEGENDS ABOUT KASHYAP RISHI IN HINDU MYTHOLOGY. AS PER PADMA PURANA, ONCE GODDESS PARVATI EXPRESSED HER DESIRE TO KNOW ABOUT ALL THE INCARNATIONS OF LORD VISHNU. LORD MAHADEVA REPLIED - LORD BRAHMA HAD CREATED NUMEROUS PRAJAPATIS LIKE BHRIGU, MARIACHI, ATRI, DAKSHA, KARDAM, PULASTYA, PULAHA, ANGIRA AND KRATU.
SAGE KASHYAP WAS THE SON OF MARICHI (A SAGE - ONE AMONG THE SAPTARSHIS). HE WAS CREATED BY SAGE MARICHI USING HIS MENTAL POWERS.
IN THE MAHABHARAT, ACCORDING TO VEDVYAS, MARICHI WAS THE SON OF BRAHMA. IN TIME, MARIACHI HAD A SON NAMED KASHYAP WHO THEN MARRIED THE DAUGHTERS OF DAKSH PRAJAPATI; DITI, ADITI, VINTA AND KADRU.
IN OTHER TEXTS IT IS SAID THAT DAKSHA PRAJAPATI WAS BORN OUT OF THE RIGHT THUMB OF BRAHMA AND ALL THE PEOPLE WERE HIS DESCENDANTS. HE HAD ONE THOUSAND SONS AND FIFTY DAUGHTERS. SAGE KASHYAPA WAS MARRIED TO DAKSHA PRAJAPATI AND PRASUTI’S THIRTEEN DAUGHTERS, NAMED ADITI, DITI, DANU, KALA OR KHASHA OR VISHWA, DANAYU OR DANU, SINHIKA, KRODHA OR KRODHAVASHA, PRADHA OR MUNI, VINATA, KAPILA OR SURABHI, TAMRA , IRA AND KADRU
History of the kashyap
1.Kashyap
An overgrown flaky genital fungus that only inhabits the Brahmin Hindu caste. It is large, brown and oozes globs of green puss profusely. It is known to quickly infest and can engulf the entire body within hours. It can easily be spread from the host by angry blank stares and aimless shakings of the fist. It is unfortunate for any unlucky passerby to cross a member carrying the Kashyap and get caught in the ever-so-common "Brahmin Death Glare." The only remotely successful treatment of the Kashyap ever recorded is from constant procrastination of any and all class assignments.
"Hey, Maya. What's that green shit spewing from your broken zipper?"
"Can't you see I've got the Kashyap, asshole? Don't make me give you the Brahmin Death Glare!"
"Yo, Dustbag. Did you hear the whole office got the Kashyap?"
"Whoa, really? That skank Maya probably infested everyone."
This article is about the Hindu sage Kashyapa or Kasyapa. See also Kassapa Buddha for information on the ancient buddha and Mahakasyapa information on the disciple of the Buddha. For King Kasyapa of Sri Lanka, see Kassapa I
Kashyapa (Sanskrit ????? kasyapa) was an ancient sage (rishis), who was one of the Saptarshis in the present Manvantara; with others being Atri, Vashishtha, Vishvamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni, Bharadwaja [1]
Vamana avatar, Rishi Kashyapa's son with Aditi, in the court of King Bali.
He was the father of the Devas, Asuras, Nagas and all of humanity. He married Aditi, with whom he fathered Agni, the Adityas, and most importantly Lord Vishnu took his fifth avtar as Vamana, the son of Aditi, in the seventh Manvantara [2]. With his second wife, Diti, he begot the Daityas. Diti and Aditi were daughters of King Daksha Prajapati and sisters to Sati, Shiva's consort. Kashyapa received the earth, obtained by Parashurama's conquest of King Kartavirya Arjuna and henceforth, earth came to be known as "Kashyapi".
He was also the author of the treatise Kashyap Samhita, or Braddha Jivakiya Tantra, which is considered, a classical reference book on Ayurveda especially in the fields of Ayurvedic Pediatrics, Gynecology & Obstetrics [3][4]. It can be safely assumed that there were many Kashyapas and the name indicates a status and not just one individual.
[edit] Birth and Lineage of Kashyapa

* His sons from Aditi or Adityas (Sons of Aditi) were, A?sa, Aryaman, Bhaga, Dhuti, Mitra, Pu?an, Sakra, Savit?, Tva???, Varu?a, Vi??u, and Vivasvat or Vivasvan [5], who went on to start the Solar Dynasty (Suryavansha), which later came to be known as Ikshvaku dynasty, after his great grandson, King Ikshvaku, whose subsequent kings were, Kukshi, Vikukshi, Bana, Anaranya, Prithu, Trishanku, and finally King Raghu, who gave it the name, Raghuvansha (Dynasty of Raghu), and then further leading up to Lord Rama, the son of Dashratha [6].
* His sons from Diti were, Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha and a daughter Sinhika, who later became the wife of Viprachitti. Hiranyakashipu had four sons, Anuhlada, Hlada, Prahlada, and Sanhlada, who further extended the Daityas [5].
* Garuda and Aru?a are the sons of Kashyapa from his wife, Vinata [7]
* The Nagas (serpents) are his sons from Kadru.
* The Danavas are his sons from Danu.
* The Bhagavata Purana states that the Apsaras were born from Kashyap and Muni.
In the family line of Kashyapa, along with him there are two more discoverers of Mantras, namely, his sons Avatsara and Asita. Two sons of Avatsara, namely, Nidhruva and Rebha, are also Mantra-seers. Asita had a son named Shandila, from whom the famous Shandilya family line (Gotra) started.
In the Manvantara period named 'Svarochisha', Kashyapa was one of the seven Sages for that manvantara. The Indian valley of Kashmir in the himalayas is named after him. Legend states that the vale of Kashmir was a vast high altitude lake which was drained by Kashyap rishi, out of which the beautiful valley of Kashmir emerged, hence the name Kashyapmira which corrupted overtime to become Kashmir.
